Meet Mrs. Wood

My name is LuAnn Wood.  My parents emigrated from China to the United States in 1949.    I was born and raised in Utah but consider Minnesota my home because I have lived here since 1982.    I graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in Education.   My husband and I have 2 daughters and 1 grandson (with one on the way!).   I enjoy doing many things including cooking, exercise, downhill skiing and watching movies.

I am looking forward this year to new adventures with my preschool class.  I am preparing the district’s young learners for further education and life.  I  strive every day to have meaningful interactions with my students.  I embrace the SEEDS approach to student success:

S: Sensitivity to children and families

E:  Encourage

E: Educate

D: Develop through doing

S: [building] Self image.   (Taken from the SEEDS curriculum by Kate Horst)

I have had the privilege of teaching families in the Early Childhood Program at Earle Brown for the past 13 years.  Last year I was part of a team that prepared our preschool program for the McKnight Grant.  I had the opportunity to visit schools in Chicago and Boston to observe early literacy strategies.
